FRED OLSEN CRUISES
CRUISING WITH FRED. OLSEN CRUISE LINES
Fred. Olsen cruises is a traditional British cruise operator offering mainly UK cruising from many ports most notably Dover and cruises from Southampton with well-designed itineraries, in a friendly and intimate ambience.
Fred Olsen cruises originated in Hvitsten, a small town on Oslofjord in Norway, when the three Olsen brothers, Fredrik Christian, Petter and Andreas, bought their first ships and began an International shipping company in 1848. Four generations later, the family now successfully operates four cruise ships.

Having defined and refined the cruise experience and judging by the number of British passengers that come back time and again, the Fred. Olsen cruise line seems to have styled itself to perfection.
As a family-operated company, Fred. Olsen Cruises have created an extremely loyal following, based on consistently providing a warm and friendly atmosphere onboard all its vessels, with a firm philosophy built on a belief that small is beautiful. Passengers become friends - they are never just cabin numbers. Unlike some of the other larger ships, Fred. Olsen are proud of the intimate world they offer onboard, where modern-day conveniences sail in harmony with traditional values.
- Formal and informal dining choices including themed Oriental and Indian cuisine.
- Unashamedly British atmosphere onboard with Norwegian officers.
- Personalised service with a 3:1 guest to staff ratio
- "Flagship Golf" shore excursion program at some of the finest golf courses throughout the world.
- "ArtsClub" special interest cruise programmes, antique roadshows and specialty cruises.
- West End style shows and themed nights including 60's & 70's night, Western night and Tropical Night.
- The privileges and benefits of "Oceans" Club loyalty membership
Balmoral, Braemar, Black Watch and Boudicca are smaller ships, which can be moored in the very heart of ports sometimes not accessible by bigger vessels. What's more you will be able to come and go as you please, maybe to pop back for lunch or drop off your shopping bags before you head back ashore to explore further.
With 100s of ports of call around the world Fred. Olsen features UK sailings from Southampton, Dover, Liverpool, Newcastle, Leith, Greenock to the Mediterranean, Canaries, Scandinavia and the Baltic during the summer months and fly/cruises from the UK to the Caribbean and South America in the winter.
FRED. OLSEN CRUISE LINE LIFE ONBOARD SHIP

Accommodation Onboard Fred Olsen Cruise Ships
Your cabin onboard a Fred. Olsen ship is your home from home, with a wide variety of cabins to suit your needs. Fred. Olsen also has a substantial number of single cabins on board all their ships, as they recognise that paying a supplement for a twin cabin just adds to the expense of your holiday. Or if you'd rather, they offer shared cabins (same sex only) where you may meet a new friend.
FRED. OLSEN CRUISE LINE DRESS CODE: SEMI-FORMAL
We recognise that those who are new to cruising may be wondering what is appropriate to wear onboard a Fred. Olsen cruise ship. They have a relaxed formal atmosphere onboard the ships, so to help you decide what to pack, we have put together some simple guidelines:
Daytime Wear Onboard Fred. Olsen Cruise Ships
During the daytime Fred. Olsen recommend comfortable shoes, which are essential for going ashore, sightseeing, and walking on deck. As the sun begins to set a lightweight jacket or coat is recommended. During the day the restaurants request you adhere to an appropriate dress code e.g. no swimwear.
Evening Wear Onboard Fred. Olsen Cruise Ships
The evening is generally speaking informal, with gentlemen wearing jacket and tie (lounge suit or sports jacket is fine) and ladies smartly dressed. On 'Formal' evenings, gentlemen will prefer to wear 'black tie' with ladies elegantly dressed in cocktail or evening dress. As a guideline there are usually four formal nights on a two-week cruise. Details will be supplied with your travel documents. During your cruise there will be some casual as well as themed evenings, such as 'Tropical Evening' or 'British Night'
Suit Hire On Fred. Olsen Cruise Ships
To make your evenings even more relaxed and memorable they now have a very special formal hire service available. Hiring or packing dress suits for formal nights can be a bit of a chore, but a solution is at hand. 'Floating Formals' is a suit hire service, which you can pre-book by telephone from your home. When you arrive on board, your tuxedo will be pressed and waiting for you in your cabin. When the cruise is over all you need to do is leave the garment(s) with reception. It's that simple!
Hire rates start from £68 for cruises of 14 days or less. Suit hire is available for longer cruises on request. The service is available on cruises departing from Dover or Southampton and orders can be placed up to 72 hours before your sailing date. Arrangements and prices are correct at the time of going to print, and may be subject to change. Please be aware this service is not available for fly cruises.
